The Online Documenting History And Benefits

If you love being able to watch television when you want and where you want, Dish Network's new line of PocketDishes may be a great choice for you. Pocket Dishes are ultra compact portable entertainment systems that make it easy to take your favorite movies television programs, music, and pictures with you wherever you go. You can also play action adventure and role playing video games downloadable from Dish Network onto your PocketDish.

There are three different models in the PocketDish line. There's the super-compact entry level model, the AV402E, the mid sized AV500E, and the state of the art, AV700E. Each has a built in color LCD screen and a hard drive for storing music, digital photographs, video games, and video content. The music, video, and photos can be downloaded from any computer while the games and Dish Network program content can be downloaded through a Dish Network receiver.

The entry level AV402E has more limited capabilities than the other two, but in light of the fact that it's only 4.2 inches by 2.4 inches by 0.7 inches, having fewer bells and whistles is understandable. At 20 Gigabytes the AV402E's hard drive is still impressive. It can store up to 20 hours of Dish Network programs, 10,000 songs in WMA, MP3, or WAV formats, and 200,000 photos in JPEG format. The screen is only 2.2 inches and has a standard 4:3 aspect ratio which would make viewing shows in wide screen format extremely difficult. The AV402E also lacks speakers and instead relies on headphones to deliver audio. One thing that the AV402E has that the other models don't is an integrated microphone for taking notes.

The two other PocketDishes, the AV500E and the AV700E have more in common with each other than with the AV402E. They both have 16:9 aspect ratio screens to allow you to watch wide format movies. They also have built in speakers which eliminate the need for headphones. Some neat extras both come with are remote controls, docking stations, and viewing stands. But what really sets them apart form the AV402E is the fact that they're both Digital Video Recorders. That is, both the AV500E and the AV700E can record video off of almost any television, DVD player, cable box, satellite receiver, or VCR. Even better, when the AV500E or AV700E record video from a non-Dish Network source the storage capacity can as much as quadruple. This means that the AV700E, which can hold up to 40 hours of Dish Network programming, can hold as much as 160 hours of video from another source!

The AV500E has a 30 Gig hard drive that can contain as much as 30 hours of Dish Network programming (or 120 hours from some other source), 300,000 digital photos, and 15,000 songs. The actual unit is 4.8 inches by 3 inches by 0.8 inches, giving it room for a 4 inch screen.

As mentioned above, the AV700E has a huge (considering it's size) 40 gigabyte hard drive that can carry as many as 40 hours of Dish Network shows, 20,000 songs, and 400,000 photos. At 8.2 inches by 4.2 inches by 0.8 inches, it's by far the biggest PocketDish and has room for a generous 7 inch screen.

Differences Between Canadian And American Football

American and Canadian football both descended from rugby and began in Canada as a game played between British soldiers garrisoned in Montreal. The soldiers played a series of games against students at McGill University. McGill played several games against Harvard in 1874 and a tradition was born. Despite their mutual origins, the Canadian and the American game developed differently and now have substantially different rules and regulations.

The biggest difference between Canadian and American football is the size of the playing field. In Canada, football fields are 110 yards long and 65 yards wide. In America football fields are 100 yards long and 53 and 1/3 yards wide. The goal posts in Canadian football are placed at the front, rather than the back of the end zone which is also deeper in Canadian football than American.

Canadian football teams have twelve players as opposed to the eleven on American teams. Because the same number of players is required at the line of scrimmage in both games, this results in an extra backfield player on Canadian teams. This means that the typical Canadian offensive setup has two slot backs instead of a tight end and on defense, two defensive halfbacks and one safety instead of two safeties as is typical in the American game.

Another difference between the two games is the number of downs. Instead of four as in the American game, Canadian football has three. This results in a more pass and kick oriented game since there are fewer downs available for short-yardage running plays. The kicking rules are also slightly different with the kicker being able to recover and advance his own kick. For this reason, kicking is a much more integral part of Canadian football than American.

The biggest difference between the kicking rules in the two games is that there is no fair catch rule in Canadian football. In American football, if a kick returner thinks he will not be able to advance the ball after recovery, he can signal for a fair catch and be immune from contact. In Canadian football no player on the kicking team except the kicker and any players behind him on the field may ever be within 5 yards of the ball unless it has been touched by an opponent. Also, in Canadian football any kick that goes into the end zone is a live ball, except for successful field goals.

There are other minor differences as well including scoring, motion and time rules but they are not as significant as the major differences noted here.

The Basic Rules Of Tennis

Thinking of starting to play tennis? Tennis is a great sport that requires mental preparation and physical agility. The first part of being able to play the game properly is understanding the rules, and in this article, we'll be discussing what are commonly agreed upon as the official rules of tennis. The rules that we will discuss are based on the provided courtesy of the International Tennis Federation.

THE COURT - Tennis should be played on a court that is built to certain specifications. The court should be 78 feet long. For a singles match, the court should be 27 feet in width, and for doubles matches, the court's width should be 36 feet. The net should be composed of a net with a cord of metal cable supporting it at a height of 3 and a half feet. Service lines should be placed 21 feet from each side of the net, designating the area in which serving should be performed.

THE RACKET - The rackets used in tennis should only have one pair of crisscrossing strings. Vibration dampening devices are allowed on the rackets, but they can only be placed outside of the strings. No devices that incorporate batteries to help your play are allowed.

THE SCORING - Tennis is a unique game in that it has special names given to the various points awarded. When calling out the score, the person serving the ball should always say their score first. A score of zero is called out by saying ‘Love', and from there, the points go to 15, 30, 40, and game. If both players get a score of 40, the game must become a tie-breaker, and a 40-40 score is announced by saying ‘Deuce'. In a ‘Deuce' situation, if a player gets a point, they are said to have ‘Advantage'. If a player with an ‘Advantage' gets another point, the game is over. If a player gets a point while the other has ‘Advantage', the score is reset to ‘Deuce'. When a game is won, another game is begun until someone gets the best of 7 games. One catch is that they must win by two. If, at the end of 7 games, a player is up 4 to 3, another match must be held as winning by two is necessary. If a player takes the best of 7 games, winning by 2, they are said to have won the match.

Step by Step Assembly Instructions

Step One:

Using sandpaper, sand the wooden trunk of the music box as well as the lid. Next, use an old paintbrush to apply wood sealer to the trunk and lid following the manufacturer's directions. Allow to dry throughly.

Step Two:

Using a paintbrush, paint the sides of the trunk with yellow acrylic paint. Next, paint the lid and bottom of base with blue and bells with red.

Step Three:

Using stencil, adhesive, or tape, center the border stencil between top and bottom of one side of the trunk. Using a stenciling sponge brush, sponge the stencil with green, red, and blue acrylic paint. Dip a small edge of the sponge brush in green acrylic paint, stenciling one side at a time. Blot on paper towels. Then, lighlty sponge one area at a time that is to be green, being careful not to get paint on unwanted areas. Allow to dry throughly.

You will next carefully sponge over the green areas again with enough coats to cover them completely-do not apply the paint too heavily or it will run under the stencil. Do not remove the stencil. Repeat the process with red and then blue. When dry, remove the stencil, and sponge the three remaining sides in the same way. Allow to dry throughly. Spray trunk, lid, and bells with gloss sealer.

Step Four:

Drill a 1/4" hole in the center front of trunk.

Step Five:

Using industrial strength glue, glue a few Lego blocks together for a winding knob. Glue turntable to back center for Lego winding knob.

Step Six:

Glue musical movement inside trunk, making sure the winding-key shaft is centered in hole. Remove the lid. Glue 5" x 5 1/2" yellow Lego building board to top of the lid, making sure it is centered. Turn the trunk upside down, and glue one bell to bottom of the box at corners for legs. Allow to dry.

Step Seven:

Wind the turntable onto key extender. Wind the key-extender onto the winding key-shaft. The turntable is the winding key. Using the remaining Lego building blocks, create anything you desire. Then, you can take the creation apart and build something new as well!

Making a music box for your child can be a lot of fun. All it takes is a willingness to try. Begin today and create a memory to last a lifetime!

The Intercontinental Poker Championship

There seems to be no question that televised poker tournaments now rival golf and tennis as a most watched spectator sport. The popularity of televised poker has grown to unforeseen proportions, primarily due to the popularity of such high profile poker tournaments as The World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour. The participation in these events by well known movie and sports stars, and the celebrity status and fan adulation accorded the poker champions has created a new world-wide poker craze.

Such publicized success by the WSOP and the WPT naturally has attracted competitors, and the proliferation of big money poker tournaments is sure to continue. Among these newcomers is The Intercontinental Poker Championship, a tournament that puts a new twist on old concepts by promoting exclusivity as a primary feature.

The Intercontinental Poker Championship made its debut on Saturday, June 17, 2006, and continued through Saturday, July 22nd. Comprised of eight weekend shows, and televised by CBS Sports, the tournament was populated by 21 of the world’s top poker players, from 21 different countries recruited on an invitation-only basis. The players in this exclusive competition were:

• Antanas Guoga – (Tony G) …………….. Australia
• Daniel Negreanu ……………………….... Canada
• Johnny Chan …………………………….. China
• Humberto Brenes ……………………….. Costa Rica
• David Ulliott ……………………………… England
• David Benyamine ………………………… France
• Dan O’Dea ………………………………... Ireland
• Eli Elezra ………………………………….. Israel
• Marco Traniello ……………………………Italy
• Yosh Nakano ……………………………… Japan
• Sammy Farha …………………………… Lebanon
• Refugio Quintero …………………………. Mexico
• Thor Hansen ……………………………….Norway
• Hasan Habib ……………………………….Pakistan
• Ralph Perry ………………………………. Russia
• Carlos Mortensen …………………………Spain
• Stephen Wolff ……………………………..South Africa
• Jimmy Cha ………………………………. South Korea
• Chris Bjorin ………………………………Sweden
• Doyle Brunson ……………………………United States
• Chau Giang ………………………………Vietnam

Played at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, the telecasts were rife with pomp and circumstance as each countries flag was displayed in turn accompanied by their national anthem. Veteran sportscaster Jeff Medders described the play-by-play assisted by poker player, tv analyst and former tv star, Gabe Kaplan ( “Welcome Back, Kotter” ).

The game was Texas hold ‘em. The prizes; $350,000 for the winner – which eventually was Japan’s Yoshio Nakano, and $150,000 for second place winner Tony G of Australia. There were no other prizes awarded.

The intercontinental Poker Championship has introduced an entirely new concept to tournament poker, snob appeal. You cannot buy into this tournament, you are “selected” by the tournament officials based upon your prominence as a player. Still another entirely new dimension has been brought into tournament poker by this tournament, since the players are selected from different countries, bringing “national pride” into the picture as well, a concept hugely appealing to viewers.

And finally, spectators can participate in the games vicariously through the viewing of the players hole cards through the ingenious “hole card cam”, a lipstick-sized device designed to enable viewers to see the players bluffs and strategies first-hand.

The Intercontinental Poker Championship was originated by an amazing man, one Henry Orenstein, (born circa 1925). A survivor of Nazi concentration camps in his youth, Orenstein is a successful inventor, holding more than 100 patents, and is the inventor of the aforementioned “hole cam” to which he still holds exclusive rights.

Orenstein’s accomplishments don’t stop there. He is also a top professional poker player in his own right. One of the oldest tournament players, the octogenarian won $130,000 in the 1996 WSOP tourney, defeating some of the tournament’s best players at seven-card stud. He has finished in the money numerous times at the WSOP and other tournaments, such as the United States Poker Championship, and his continuing contributions to the popularity of televised tournament poker have proven invaluable.

Legal Philosophy One Reason to Why Law is the Must

Human is endowed with dignity, equality and other honorable status from birth; if this is the true tendency, why law is the must for our human society?

Initially ever, human has only one reason to make us need law to govern us as individual and our integration into the society. This one reason is: “the difference.” Indeed, we are really different; one may want to be a journalist, while other would want to be an airline pilot, one may want to be a law practitioner and another one thins of law-making as a life profession, etc.

There is nothing wrong in our difference; we are entitled to grow to even our actualization; moreover, difference is good to make our society diverse and competitive. But law is the absolute must for our society, because to make our differences not to affect each other. How our differences would affect each other?

Let’s see a very simple example: for his fame and financial ambition, a journalist may exaggerate the truth and intrude into a politician’s privacy. On the similar track, this politician may commit corruption and obstruct the journalist from knowing and publish his/her corruption scandal. From this very simple example, we do need law to government the differences between journalist and politician.

Another example that I would love to bring is about driving. Everyone wants to reach our destination before or on time. Yes, we are not wrong in driving fast, but the problem is that our fast driving would affect the pedestrian. From this perspective, law is the must to prevent or to solve the problem between the driver and the pedestrian.

Why Not Reimburse African Americans for Slavery

There seems to be a huge debate in the United States whether or not we should reimburse African-Americans for the abuse during slavery. Why not give them millions of dollars each to make up for the problems that were caused any inequities, which occurred? Why not give all African-Americans restitution dollars for that terrible stain on our American heritage?

Well it is simple, you see, at the time it was not against the law to have slaves in the South. No one can debate in the present period that this is incorrect thinking, however at the time that is the way it was. That was then and this is now? I just cannot see how those living now must pay for the non-law breakers then. Silly stuff to even think this is a viable argument.

And additionally we should also consider that the African-Americans who arrived in the New World were sold into slavery by their own villages and tribes. If a tribal leader sold their people into slavery then they are just as much to blame as the American plantation owners that bought them. And this should be considered to. In fact perhaps we can offer freely land in Africa to those African-Americans who live here who would rather go back to their homeland.

It seems unbelievable that we are actually addressing this issue of reimbursing African-Americans for something that happened generations ago when there is no one alive today who should be held responsible for it. In fact getting money to African-Americans is not fair to all the other people who came here from somewhere else and were exploited as cheap labor and treated very poorly.

Should CIA be Allowed to Operate on Indian Land Within US Borders

Should the central intelligence agency be allowed to operate on Native American Indian lands within the U.S. border to spy on U.S. citizens and operate their networks within the borders of the United States of America? Is this what our founding fathers had in mind in the Constitution of the United States, which made rules to prevent the government from spying on its own citizens?

And may I ask why the United States of America and the Central Intelligence Agency is assisting in the spying on American citizens? After 911 many things have changed, but apparently the spying on American citizens, which has always gone on was ramped up to the 10th degree.

Should American citizens be concerned if the CIA is operating from within US Borders on Native American land in order to dodge the rules of spying on American citizens that is protected to us by the Constitution of the United States of America? Do you approve as a U.S. taxpayer and as an owner of this government that the central intelligence agency should be allowed to operate above the law through a loophole on Native American Indian land? If so, then what is the reason?

Is it to collect information on international terrorists or use it to control the American people and protect the government from future civil unrest because they're not doing their job worth a concrete water holding device on a river.

Government is Good at Only One Thing Well Actually Two

Many people in the United States of America are trying to rely on the government for more and more every year and they vote for all the podium pushers and politicians who promised them things that the government can neither afford or that the taxpayer is willing to pay for.

Nevertheless, people rely on the government for all kinds of things such as health care, when what they should be doing is eating right and exercising more and they would not need pharmaceutical drugs or free health care at all. I am over 40 years old and have not been to a doctor in 28 years and I am in perfect shape and health and always will be.

I do not take drugs of any type pharmaceutical or otherwise and I eat healthy; you cannot rely on the government for such things as many of the things that people are relying on the government for our something that they should be responsible for themselves.

Most everything the government does it does inefficient and they do nothing very well. Well actually the government is good at only one thing; well actually two. The government is extremely good at lying to the American people.

And the government is very good at spending our money on wasteful endeavors in a very inefficient manner. In fact they are so good at both of these things that they probably deserve some sort of an award.
